Police use of force data ‘a huge mess’ across the U.S.

Despite decades of credible allegations of police brutality, and a 25-year-old federal law requiring the government to collect national data on excessive force, the United States still has little or no reliable information to show for it. “It’s a huge mess, there’s no question about it,” said Matthew Hickman, PhD, chair of the criminal justice department at Seattle University.
