PJ Alaimo and Joe Langenhan, both assistant professors of chemistry, published an article in Organic Syntheses. Their research was done in collaboration with two Seattle University undergraduates, Amanda Marshall, '09, and David Andrews, '11, who are both co-authors on the article. The article describes a discovery by Marshall that demonstrated the most efficient known synthesis of 1,3,5-triacetylbenzene, a compound that has enjoyed a wide variety of practical and scientific uses.
