The Tau Sigma Gamma Mu Chapter of the National Transfer Student Honor Society inducted Jacob Diaz, vice president for student development, as an honorary member in recognition of his advocacy for transfer students. The honor was presented publicly at the third annual induction ceremony, which took place Feb. 26 in Pigott Auditorium where 92 new student inductees were honored. Diaz was himself a transfer student in the prior to completing his bachelor's degree at the University of California Santa Barbara.
Tau Sigma is the national academic honor society designed specifically to recognize and promote the academic excellence and involvement of transfer students. SU's chapter is led by President ChrisTiana Obey, Vice President of Finance Kenneth McCray, Secretary Yen Pham and the recently elected Executive Vice President Tram Le. Co-advising the chapter are Laura Hauck, academic advisor in the College of Arts and Sciences, and Angel Asuncion-Reed, assistant director in Commuter and Transfer Student Life.
