English and Modern Languages host major conference

The Departments of English and Modern Languages Departments hosted the Pacific Ancient and Modern Language Association Conference, which was attended by 650 Pacific Coast English, classics and modern literature teachers. Coordinated by Maria Bullon-Fernandez, chair of the English Department, and Sonia Barrios Tinoco of the Modern Language Department, the conference featured novelist Sandra Cisneros. 

SU faculty who organized sessions or presented papers and creative writing at the conference included Sharon Cumberland, Gabriella Gutierrez y Muhs, Christine Mower, Sonora Jha, Justine Barda, Edwin Weihe, and David Leigh, S.J. Assisting in running the conference were Kate Koppelman, Charles Tung, Thorne Clayton-Falls, Kaily Seralta and students.
