A staff member takes time to reflect on what makes her colleagues so special.

UPDATE (April 26, 2016)

Becky Hartley (Biology) was one of the faculty members Jessica Price acknowledged in response to The Commons ' invitation to submit "Kudos for colleagues." Hartley in turn, has this to say:

"First, I would like to thank Jessica Price for the recognition-she herself is a great colleague who provides strong support to faculty and students alike. And I want to say that Andrea Frangi in Admissions works very hard to give our prospective students an enjoyable and educational experience when they visit campus for a fall preview day or accepted student open house. Andrea is an amazing event planner who helps us attract many awesome students."

ORIGINAL POST (March 15, 2016)

The Commons  recently put out a call for faculty and staff to recognize the special things their co-workers do. Jessica Price (Senior Administrative Assistant, Mathematics) responded with the following:

"Robin Evans  (Manager of Budget and Operations, Dean's Office, College of Science and Engineering) can be counted on to go above and beyond her job description, and always with grace.

Becky Hartley  (Associate Professor, Biology) shows an unparalleled care for the well-being of her advisees.

McLean Sloughter  (Associate Professor, Mathematics) connects with students on a personal level that gives them the small-school faculty interaction SU pride's itself on.

Glenn Yasuda  (Associate Professor, Biology) puts significant thought and effort into making decisions as Chair, with great care for the long-term well-being of both students and faculty.

Erin Engelhardt  (Assistant Athletic Director) enthusiastically goes the extra mile for her students, and handles difficult situations with professionalism."

Now that Jessica has gotten the ball rolling for us, let's hear from you! Do you have a colleague or colleagues you'd like to acknowledge? Send your response to thecommons@seattleu.edu.
