PHOENIX, Ariz. – Seattle University women's soccer fell, 1-0, to Utah Valley in the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Tournament Championship Saturday afternoon. Michele AdamAva Benedetti, and Hallie Bergford were named WAC All-Tournament Team for the Redhawks at GCU Soccer Stadium.

The teams battled towards a scoreless draw for much of the game. Madison Waguespack was tested early and passed to keep the Wolverines off the board in the first half. Bailey Hall took a strong shot midway through the half, but UVU's goalkeeper turned it away. The match hit halftime even at 0.

In the second half, both teams fought through the warm temperatures in Phoenix, as the Wolverines began to gain solid chances. In the 76th minute, a foul was called against SU to set up a penalty kick. Cassidy McCormick converted the try for a key first goal.

Waguespack made a stellar save in the closing minutes to keep it 1-0, but the Redhawks' attack could not find an equalizer as the Wolverines claimed the title this spring.

Waguespack totaled five saves in goal.

Seattle U's season ends with a sixth WAC regular-season title, an eighth straight WAC Tournament final appearance, and a 12-win campaign. It will have a quick turnaround before the 2021 fall season.
