The Center for Community Engagement was recently awarded a grant from Jumpstart for Young Children, Inc. and the Corporation for National and Community Service. The $77,950 award will support approximately 41 AmeriCorps Members to serve 120 Children, as well as one AmeriCorps Volunteer Coordinator to engage 55 volunteers.

The Jumpstart program offers a unique opportunity for students interested in working with young children to engage with the surrounding community. The training curriculum develops leadership skills in students of any academic major.

This is the 12th consecutive year CCE has received funding to support this program. CCE’s Julie Hurst serves as principal investigator and Aileah Slepski is Jumpstart site manager.
