Members of the SU community gathered at the Library Plaza on April 4 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s assassination. The remembrance included a public reading of King’s sermons and speeches and concluded with a procession to the Chapel of St. Ignatius where bells were tolled in his memory. The event was sponsored by the Office of Diversity and Inclusion, Office of Multicultural Affairs and Campus Ministry.

“Moments of reflection like these are particularly poignant in the midst of a world seemingly in conflict with our shared values,” wrote Natasha Martin, vice president for diversity and inclusion. “Consistent with our Jesuit Catholic identity, we…gather to embrace our shared humanity, affirm our values and reflect on our roles in creating a better future.”
