the ramp leading to Admin building entrance

The Administration Building gets a new entryway.

Redhawks flocking to the Admin Building for the first day of fall classes were greeted with a newly renovated main entrance.

As part of the university’s ongoing effort to ramp up its commitment to accessibility, the steps fronting the east side of Admin were replaced over the summer with a gently sloping path that connects the 10th Ave. mall to the first floor of the building (and a new and improved staircase, to boot).

“The new inclusive entry will better handle the pedestrian loads in one the university’s most highly scheduled classroom buildings,” says Steve De Bruhl, assistant director of design + construction in Facilities Services.

The entry, De Bruhl points out, “is integrated with the existing architecture and landscaping” and includes a powered-operated accessible door, campus card reader and electronic locks.
