Melissa Arias is the new president and CEO of Make-A-Wish Alaska and Washington, the nonprofit that grants wishes to children with critical illnesses. To this role Arias brings more than 14 years of nonprofit leadership, which aligns with her passion of helping children with critical illnesses.
In a press release announcing her new position Arias said, “Very early in my career I worked with children who were impacted by life-threatening disease. When I would ask what they wished for, it wouldn’t less the pain of the medical regiments but it did allow them a freedom that nothing else seemed to. It gave them the chance to feel normal to feel a sense of belonging in the community.”
