Biography

Maylon Hanold is Director of the MBA in Sport and Entertainment Management program at Seattle University. She has been teaching in the sport management program here since 2008 and been full time since 2010. In addition to teaching, she has served in various administrative capacities for the program since 2014, becoming Director in 2017. She teaches courses in leadership, women and sport leadership, and diversity and inclusion for sport management. In addition to journal articles on ultrarunning, authentic leadership, and leadership and empathy in sport, she has written book chapters in Sport Leadership for the 21st Century, The Embodiment of Leadership, Transgender Athletes in Competitive Sport. Theorizing Women and Leadership.  She is the author of two books: World Sports and Women in Sports.  She has been an invited speaker on many topics including Generation iY, inclusive leadership, intersections between gender, media, and sport leadership. She has led trainings on diversity, equity and inclusion with Seattle tech companies and sport entities. She holds a B.A. in French from the University of Washington, a masters in learning and teaching from Harvard University, and a doctorate in leadership from Seattle University. She was a member of the 1992 Olympic Team in whitewater kayak slalom. These days, she enjoys trail running, mountain biking, and snowboarding.
