Soldier Inducted Into Hall of Valor

Seattle University graduate killed in Afghanistan honored for service

Seattle University will induct Robert Bennedsen into the university’s Hall of Valor on Wednesday, making him the first since the Vietnam War.

Bennedsen died just three weeks into his first tour of duty in Afghanistan in July. A Vashon Island native, the 25-year-old died as a result of a roadside bomb as he helped a vehicle damaged from a prior IED.

Bennedsen graduated from Seattle U’s Albers School of Business in 2008.

Relatives and military personnel will be on hand to unveil Bennedsen’s portrait, adding him alongside other Seattle University graduates killed in war.
