Welcome to the School of New and Continuing Studies, Seattle University’s school for busy adults.

At NCS our programs are specifically designed for adult students. Many of the NCS faculty and staff were (and continue to be) adult learners themselves, so we know the challenges you face when trying to balance school, work, family, and just general life stuff. But we also know that those challenges can be overcome, and we’re here to help you with that. It’s what we do.

We do that by offering programs and courses that combine flexible and convenient delivery, affordable cost, and a high-quality, respected Seattle University education. NCS courses are delivered using blended and online delivery and innovative technologies, and they emphasize project- and portfolio-based learning. They also combine theoretical knowledge with valuable workplace skills; at NCS you might take courses combining coding and cultural studies, financial management and leadership theory, or social justice and Javascript.

NCS also provides support tailored to adult students; not only are all Seattle University student services available to our students, but our helpful and dedicated staff are always ready to provide support and services designed to meet the needs of adult students.

The education you’ll get from NCS is distinctively Jesuit, one that not only prepares students for successful careers, but also to live meaningful and reflective lives and take the lead in making our world a just and humane one.

Our programs are rigorous in the best Seattle University tradition. We challenge you to do your best, to stretch yourself, to engage actively in class and in the world. Achieving your educational goals will require a serious commitment of time and effort; at NCS you are supported in those efforts by a vibrant, diverse, and caring community of fellow students, faculty, and staff.

If you’re considering enrolling in one of our programs, I invite you to contact us or attend one of our information sessions to learn why NCS could be the right choice for you.

If you’re a new student, welcome to Seattle University, NCS, and our remarkable academic community.

I look forward to seeing you around campus.
