We believe that teaching well requires much knowledge and a thoughtful, reflective mind. Thus, teachers should not undertake their first full responsibilities with only a brief exposure to higher learning. Deep education takes time, requires small classes, and relies on open dialogue with learned professors. Excellent teaching requires self-confidence and love. It requires an understanding of the large issues facing schools and an ability to focus closely on how to help individuals as well. Teaching can be wonderfully fun, but only if you do it well.
