Managed Print Services Gets Greener

MPS has reduced its environmental footprint and costs:

  • MPS devices now default to duplex printing. All printing/copying is double-sided unless manually changed*
  • MPS has moved from 30 percent to 100 percent recycled paper, reducing its environmental footprint (saving 380 trees, 400 million BTUs of energy, 287,400 pounds of CO2 emissions and 343,000 gallons in water consumption)

These changes will result in $4k annual savings.

* Users are responsible for seting up their jobs to output as needed; therefore, refunds will not be offered to users who desire single-sided prints but fail to alter the default setting.

What is MPS?

Managed Print Services (MPS) is a unified, campus-wide system that delivers self-service printing, copying, and scanning. The program administers all print-capable devices across campus with the exception of the School of Law and a small number of exceptions. MPS allows students, faculty, staff, and other affiliates to print from any devices and release from anywhere using standardized equipment that is maintained by a central entity.
