Data Center Shutdown

Memorial Day weekend has been approved for the installation of the data center's new backup generator, which will allow us to better mitigate power outages. In order to bring the new generator into service, the Data Center must be shut down for final connections. ITS will perform a controlled shutdown and restart. The entire campus will be impacted for a period of 16 hours.

A notification will be sent on Sunday at noon when the generator installation is complete and all services have been restored.

Public Safety will be available from non-university phones at 206-296-5990 and for on-campus emergencies at 206-296-5911. If you are unable to reach Public Safety at these numbers, an alernative is 206-325-0718. If you cannot reach Public Safety during an emergency on campus, please dial 911.

NightHawk service will be unavailable. Please contact Public Safety if you would like to use the 24/7 walking escort program for an escort anywhere on campus and up to two blocks from the campus perimeter.

Saturday May 25 - Sunday May 26, 2019

What is Involved?

ITS technicians will shut down the data center on Saturday evening. Once this has been completed, SeattleU Facilities employees will work with our vendor to connect the generator to the data center. On Sunday morning, when the generator installation is complete, our ITS technicians will restart the data center and work with our campus partners to ensure all applications are functioning correctly.
