Event Center Exploration: Associate VP for Facilities Rob Schwartz provided the Cabinet with an update on the exploration to date of a possible Event Center. The Trustee Exploration Group continues to meet to discuss questions related to the possible capital project. An update by the Trustee group will be provided to the Board on Thursday, Nov. 14. Further data and a feasibility study will be needed in the coming months.

Cabinet and Deans Meeting Debrief: The Cabinet debriefed the previous week’s Cabinet and Deans meeting. The first session on the EAB metrics was very helpful, providing a framework and prioritizing areas for growth and improvement. In the second half of the meeting, CFO Wilson Garone discussed with the Cabinet and Deans a cost structure exercise in order to change the current operating model. On Dec. 2 during the next Cabinet and Deans, Garone will lead a workshop on how such an exercise is completed.

Staff Council Survey:  Michelle Clements provided the Cabinet with an executive summary of the issues raised in the Staff Survey conducted by the Staff Council. The survey garnered a 48% response rate. The Staff Council Leadership will meet with Cabinet at a near future meeting.

ICW Meeting Debrief: Fr Sundborg shared with the Cabinet notes from the Independent Colleges of Washington (ICW) presidents’ meeting.

Updates: The Cabinet was very positive about the success of Homecoming Weekend, reviewing all the events and programs which were well attended. The Dec. 18 Cabinet Retreat planning will be underway; the agenda focus will be the next steps of the Strategic Directions. United Way Campaign continues.
