President’s Committee on Sustainability (PCS) Update: Jen Tilghman-Havens, Wes Lauer (co-chairs of the PCS), Greg Magnan and Michelle Clements (former co-chairs) shared with the Cabinet information related to the university’s desired advancement in carbon neutrality.  Discussion followed on the university’s demonstrated commitment to sustainability, considerations for choosing a carbon neutral date and peer institutions dates. Also provided were possible strategies for net neutrality that the Cabinet might consider. The Cabinet will further consider this within the Strategic Directions and follow up with the PCS on a recommended date.

Seattle University Technology Governance: Chris Van Liew presented the Cabinet with the proposal for establishing a University Technology Committee which will oversee and align the overall SU tech strategy. It will be an advisory committee to the Cabinet. The Cabinet approved the establishment of the committee.

Cost Structure and Budget Process Update: The Cabinet discussed changes to the cost structure document which were made based on feedback from Cabinet and Deans. The edited document will be shared with the Cabinet and Deans the week of Dec. 16. The Cabinet will discuss the FY21 budget process during the Dec. 17 Cabinet meeting.

Cabinet Retreat: The Cabinet decided to extend the retreat from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Dec. 18.
