Thai-Huy Nguyen was recently honored with a prestigious Emerging Scholar award by the magazine Diverse: Issues in Higher Education. Thai is featured in the February issue as one of 12 scholars under the age of 40 who have demonstrated impact in their field and serve as an inspiration to students and colleagues. Criteria for selection include research, educational background, publishing and teaching record, as well as the competitiveness and uniqueness of the field of study.
In the article, Nguyen was recognized for being a co-principal investigator and lead educational researcher for a new $5 million National Science Foundation grant awarded to Seattle Colleges to support its “Ready! Set! Transfer!” program that provide scholarships and other support for talented, low-income students pursuing careers and transfer associate degrees in STEM fields.
