Prior to moving to Washington in 2009, Dr. Willette was the Assistant Director of Residential Life at Champlain College. After arriving in Washington, Dr. Willette worked in Career and Employment Services at the University of Puget Sound. Dr. Willette began working at Seattle University in 2011 as a Resident Director in Housing and Residence Life, and then as Assistant Director in the same department. He was Assistant Dean of Students from July 2016 - June 2017, and has been served as Dean of Students from July 2017 - July 2018 before being appointed to the Associate Vice President & Dean of Students position in July 2018. Dr. Willette is a member of the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA) and the Association of Student Conduct Administrators (ASCA), and completed advanced training in student conduct leadership at the ASCA Ghering Institute in 2015. Dr. Willette's Ph.D. was completed at Colorado State University in 2016 under the supervision of Dr. Linda Kuk. His dissertation was, "A Phenomenological Study of Gay Male Undergraduate College Students' Experiences at a Jesuit Catholic University" (2016).
