This event was a community film screening and dialogue that is part of a multi-city tour of the new documentary film Cracking The Codes: The System of Racial Inequity. With this film, Shakti Butler asks America to talk about the causes and consequences of systemic inequity. "Cracking The Codes is designed to deepen and shift the framing of racial disparities in this country," said Dr. Butler, director of the film and founder of World Trust Educational Services in Oakland. This is Shakti Butler's fourth documentary film, with cinematography by her husband, EMMY award-winner Rick Butler. Her films reach both head and heart with a critical mass of stories intertwined with music, art, and poetry.
The event date was Wednesday, March 13, 2013 6:30 p.m.-9:00-p.m. Check out the film at the Seattle University library if you missed this event but would like to join the conversation.
