Public Health Directive on Face Coverings

May 18, 2020

Effective May 18, 2020, Seattle & King County Public Health issued a Health Directive on face coverings in most public settings. The university fully intends to incorporate this directive into campus life once our operations expand under the governor’s phased reopening plan. Look forward to receiving more information about wearing face coverings on campus in the coming weeks. In the meantime, all individuals on campus are asked to follow Public Health’s updated directive and wear face coverings over their noses and mouths in indoor settings where others are present and in outdoor settings where social distancing is not possible.

Everyone should have a face covering on hand and ready for use at all times when on campus. Please see the directive for any applicable exceptions. Face covering use does not replace the need to practice physical social distancing (keeping at least six feet apart, staying away from ill people, staying home and avoiding all non-essential activities and contact with others), frequent handwashing, and avoiding touching the face.
