New Virtual Private Network (VPN) Service

March 31, 2020

IT Services is happy to announce that a new VPN solution, GlobalProtect, is now available for use by faculty and staff. GlobalProtect provides a faster and more reliable experience. ITS requests that you follow the instructions to download the new VPN application if you meet any of the following criteria:

  • Using the VPN on a personal computer.
  • Have admin rights to your SU computer.
  • Are experiencing connection issues with Cisco AnyConnect.

GlobalProtect requires users to enroll in Multi-Factor Authentication; information is available on the Information Security website. The Cisco AnyConnect client is still available for use but will be retired later this year.

Use the VPN: If you use shared drives (i.e. T and P Drives), Colleague, RDP to your desktop computer on campus, access servers on campus, access InformSU SSRS reports, or use the EMS desktop application, you will need to download and use the VPN.

VPN not needed: If you generally only use SeattleU online services i.e. Canvas, EngageSU, ProcureSU, Office 365, Zoom, EMS web application, and SUOnline, you do not need the VPN to access remotely.
