Take Your Shot, Seattle U!

Effective next Thursday, April 15, all Washingtonians 16 years and older are eligible to sign up for the COVID-19 vaccine. The City of Seattle has launched a site through which you can get notified when a COVID-19 vaccine is available at one of the four city-affiliated vaccination sites. Complete the form here. For those currently eligible to receive the vaccine, appointments can be found at Vaccinate WA and King County. Getting vaccinated is one of the most important tools to ending the COVID-19 pandemic. Please take your shot and keep our campus community healthy.

And Once You’re Vaccinated…

Members of the SU community who have been vaccinated are encouraged to voluntarily register at the Safe Start Health Check site by completing this form. The information will help the university to continue effective contact tracing and support proactive measures in alignment with public health protocol. Tighter COVID Restrictions Coming? 

Governor Jay Inslee will announce Monday whether some counties must return to Phase 2 of the state’s reopening plan due to a recent upward trend in COVID-19 cases. Inslee advanced all counties to Phase 3 on March 22 with the understanding that they would be reevaluated three weeks later. “We’ve let our guard down to some degree,” the governor said yesterday. Moving from one phase to another is based on the number of new cases and hospitalizations with different metrics applying to larger and smaller counties.

Inslee today updated the criteria for county phases, clarifying that in order to move down a phase, a county must fail both metrics for case counts and hospitalizations. Under the previous plan, a county only needed to fail one metric to move back one phase.

Seattle Tops in Nation for Willingness to Receive COVID Vaccine

According to a recent U.S. Census Bureau survey, nearly three-quarters of all adults in Seattle indicated they plan to be vaccinated for COVID-19, making the city #1 among the nation’s 15 largest metro areas. Read more in The Seattle Times.

Summer and Fall at SU: A Quick Review

As announced last month:

• Summer Quarter 2021 will be taught in the same manner as prior quarters this academic year with most classes taught virtually.
  
• The plan for the fall 2021 academic term is to return to a primarily in-person mode for both instruction and the student experience. Fall quarter will start on Wednesday, Sept. 22 for undergraduate and non-law graduate students, and the fall semester for law students will start on Monday, Aug. 23. University-managed residence halls will return to double-occupancy rooms for the fall.
