Pizza and a Purpose

October 13, 2017

Ally and Scott Svenson, co-founders of MOD Pizza, kicked off the Albers Executive Speaker Series on Oct. 11, by presenting “Using Pizza as a Platform for Social Impact.”

The fastest growing restaurant chain in the United States for two years running, Mod Pizza marries a market need with an eye on the greater good. At SU, the Svensons discussed some of the ways in which the company strives to do right by its customers and society at large, including its hiring of “second chance” employees.

In a thorough recap of the event that you can read on his blog, Albers Dean Joe Phillips writes, “Scott and Ally Svenson have created a distinctive business with a strong people-first culture and a mission to provide opportunity to those who frequently are without one.  MOD Pizza is an inspiring story for all who know that business is a mechanism for social good and not just earning profits.  It is a belief they are turning into reality, thanks to a culture that creates purpose.”
