Eddie the building marshal
As those who know Eddie Salazar, senior administrative assistant in the Center for Jesuit Education, can attest, he wears many hats. Add hard hat to the list. Salazar, pictured here during the university's recent evacuation drill, is one of the building marshals for Loyola Hall.
Q: So how did you become a building marshal?
Salazar: Chosen by divine providence.
Q: Do you have any special training?
Salazar: I have first aid/CPR training.
Q: What's the most important part about being building marshal?
Salazar: Helping to ensure that everyone is safe until appropriate emergency responders arrive.
Q: What's your favorite piece of building marshal gear?
Salazar: Why, the megaphone of course. I like telling people to "obey me."
Q: Any other thoughts on building-marshaling (if that's a word)?
Salazar: All of us are called to always remain vigilant in all of our surroundings! I just happen to get a swell hard hat and megaphone.
Eddie, thanks for serving and protecting.
