Swishes for Wishes: Make-A-Wish basketball game

SU's eighth annual Swishes for Wishes basketball game pits students against faculty and staff to support a most worthwhile cause. The epic contest, which raises money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, is set to take place 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, April 17, at Connolly Center North Court.

Since 1980, the Make-A-Wish Foundation has granted the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions. Last year's Swishes for Wishes event raised nearly $2,000 for the foundation's Alaska and Washington chapters. It was an exciting game, with the staff and faculty team narrowly winning by three points. Executive Vice President Tim Leary, who coached the faculty/staff team, is pictured here being carried off the court by Kent Koth and Eddie Lincoln of the Center for Service and Community Engagement while Alvin Sturdivant of Student Development celebrates.

Swishes for Wishes is sponsored by the Student Athletic Advisory Council (SAAC), which was created to encourage student-athlete involvement in campus and community projects. "Swishes for Wishes" is one of SAAC's major projects.

Whether you're pulling for the students or for the faculty/staff, come on out for this year's game, which is certain to entertain. For more information, contact Holly Frost at frosth@seattleu.edu or (206) 437-2931.
