President Stephen Sundborg, S.J., receives award at MLK prayer breakfast

Seattle University President Stephen Sundborg, S.J., is the 2017 recipient of the Vision from the Mountaintop Award in the corporate leader category sponsored by the 5th Annual Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Prayer Breakfast. He received the honor at the Jan. 16 event in Seattle. The award recognizes a community, education and corporate leader from the Seattle area that demonstrates leadership and contributes in the community, education or business world for the furtherance of justice, reconciliation and empowerment. 

The 5th Annual Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Prayer Breakfast 2017 focused on uniting business, non-profit, church communities together as well as the community-at-large to celebrate King’s spiritual legacy and to focus on his work in furthering justice and reconciliation. 

Vision from the Mountaintop is presented by the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr Planning Committee; Advisory Committee; Vision from the Mountaintop Award Committee; and Allen A. Belton, senior partner, Reconciliation Ministries of Breakthrough Partners, in cooperation with the Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Committee of Seattle.

The mission of the award organization is to unite business, non-profit and church communities, as well as the community-at-large, to celebrate the spiritual legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., focus on his work in justice and to recognize and honor educators, corporate and business members furthering justice and reconciliation. 

This latest award follows Father Sundborg’s inclusion among Seattle Magazine’s list of most influential people. Sundborg was recognized in the Education category.
