International Mingling

It's been a while since we've caught up with Mike "The Mayor" Mullen, who was last seen interviewing the likes of Mary Kay McFadden, John Popko and Andrew Tadie. In a first-of-its-kind international edition of "Mingling with the Mayor," Mullen, who doubles as mechanical shop lead, visted with Bert Otten, S.J.

Father Otten, as many know, served on SU's College of Science and Engineering faculty for a number of years. These days, he's working in Chikuni, Zambia, immersed in a variety of engineering projects to improve the quality of life in the village while also helping tend to the educational and pastoral needs of the local community. Mullen who was in Zambia over the summer to do some service work through Professionals Without Borders, spoke with Otten about all sorts of things. Here are some excerpts.
