What SU is Doing


  • We partner with Bon Appetit as our food vendor because of their socially responsible practices.

     Animal ProductsC-St cafeteria salad bar in the Student Center

    •  Beef is free of antibiotics and hormones and given vegetarian feed
    •  Chicken and turkey are raised without antibiotics in their food
    •  Eggs are Certified Humane and cage-free
    •  Milk is from a local dairy, free of antibiotics and hormones
    •  Pork is raised without antibiotics as a first preference
    •  Salmon is wild caught in Washington.
    • Seafood meets Monterey Bay Aquarium Seafood Watch guidelines

    Fair Trade

    • Fair Trade, shade grown, organic coffee
    • Fair Trade bananas

    From Scratch The Stout Family, owners of Full Circle Farms in North Bend, WA

    • Salad dressings, salsas, soups, and sauces are made from scratch
    •  No trans-fats or high fructose corn syrup are used
    Local and Seasonal
    • Fruits and vegetables are from North America, in season and organic when possible
    •  20 local farmers supply 50% of the fruits and vegetables
    •  Baked goods use local, sustainably harvested grains
    •  C-Street chefs prepare dishes with seafood caught or farmed within a 500-mile radius at the September Eat Local Fish Challenge
    • Learn more about the local farmers and food producers supplying our food


    • Vegan options are served at breakfast, lunch and dinner
    •  Meatless Mondays at the C-Street hot food station by the grill

    Waste ReductionFree fruit-infused water at C-Street cafeteria in the Student Center

    • Cooking oil is given to a local bio-diesel manufacturer
    • 20 cent discount on all coffee drinks and fountain soda when you bring your own reusable mug. 
    • Bottled water is not sold at the cafeteria or cafes
    • The C-Street cafeteria has free fruit-infused water at the salad bar and the soda fountains dispense free water. The cafes in the library, Pigott and Student Center dispense free water in a water jug.
