My research project compares the goals, methods, outcomes and institutional circumstances of environmental learning centers and "nature schools" in Japan, China and the United States, in order to better understand the kinds of learning experiences that foster sustainability and environmental justice. Over the past several years, I have been conducting fieldwork and collecting data on case studies in all three countries, and my CEJS Fellowship will support the final research, presentation, write-up and publication phase of this multi-year project.
