Sonora Jha developed CMJR 2450: Media Foundations of Communications as a 50% online course. Designed to maximize classroom interaction, students were asked to review course content – a series of videos and readings – entirely online. Classroom time was devoted to group and class-wide discussions and student presentations. Students took turns, with their groups, leading weekly discussions and presenting findings. Because media is shifting and evolving faster than ever before, Sonora wanted to leave room in her course to add timely articles and link to trending sites and content. Her course seamlessly blended online and in-class content by extending classroom discussion into the online space and vice-versa.
