Many faculty feel uncomfortable filming themselves for an introductory video and we understand that. However, Carol Kelly produced a very compelling welcome video for her course UCOR 3430: Arts & Cultural Identity using voiceover slides. In the narrated welcome Carol gives students a glimpse into her background, what the course is about and how it fits into the university's CORE requirements. She also refers to some relevant news that has happened just days before the course is scheduled to start (see slide 4). The nice thing about using slide narration rather than video is that next time Carol runs this course she can swap out slide 4 for something more current rather than having to redo her entire welcome.
