Developing Job Shadow Experiences (full day)

Time: 8 a.m.-3 p.m. or 9 a.m.-4 p.m., including a one-hour lunch break. 

Purpose: To provide students with disabilities the opportunity to participate high quality career exploration activities, including job shadow experiences, necessary to identify and pursue their post-school goals in education, training, and employment

Objectives: Upon completion, participants will be able to:

  • Identify and describe essential characteristics for developing meaningful job shadow experiences
  • Describe how to incorporate job shadow activities into transition instruction and assessment practices
  • Discuss the steps and components for developing individual and/or group job shadow sites

Subtopics include:

  • CTE: Work-Based Learning Overview
  • Job Shadow and the Transition Planning Process
  • Developing Sites
  • Instruction and Transition Development
  • Technical Planning Considerations
