GMAT/GRE Waivers

Earn the Professional MBA Without a GMAT/GRE.

At the Albers School of Business and Economics, we are interested in the development of the whole person. While the GMAT/GRE helps us assess whether applicants have the quantitative, verbal, and analytical skills required to succeed at Albers, we recognize that some may be able to demonstrate their potential without a GMAT/GRE.  We consider all professional and educational experiences that will contribute to developing cohorts of students that will collaboratively pursue our high quality, rigorous Professional MBA program.

Because of our holistic approach to education, Seattle University has created a path through which GMAT/GRE waivers may be granted to qualified applicants.

Waiving the GMAT/GRE* for the Professional MBA:

Do you have a relevant degree that demonstrates quantitative competency? In addition to a minimum of two years relevant full-time work experience, degrees such as the ones listed below provide evidence of the skill base needed to be successful in our program.

Upon evaluation, you MAY receive a GMAT/GRE waiver if you hold one or more of the following degrees:

  • Quantitative master of science degree in a STEM area (science, technology, engineering and math), finance, or accounting with a GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Full CPA, CFA, or CPIM (Certified in Production and Inventory Management) designation
  • A terminal degree (JD, MD, PhD, etc.)
  • Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration with a GPA of 3.25 or higher from the Albers School of Business and Economics
  • Bachelor degree with a GPA of 3.5 or higher from Seattle University
  • Bachelor degree with GPA of 3.0 or higher and at least 10 years or more of relevant industry work experience

For more information about GMAT/GRE waivers or to request a waiver, please send copies of your unofficial transcripts and a current resume to Christina Hughes at All GMAT/GRE waivers will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Albers reserves the right to deny a GMAT/GRE waiver.

Please note: An approved waiver does not guarantee admission to the Seattle University Professional MBA program.

If you still need to take the GMAT, we encourage you to look into our GMAT Workshop, which is designed to help you prepare to take the GMAT or improve your GMAT score through preparatory courses offered at a discounted rate. Contact us for more information.

*The Seattle University Professional MBA may also accept GMAT/GRE scores older than 5 years on a case by case-by-case basis, depending on work experience, as long as you can provide the Office of Admissions with an official GMAT/GRE score report.
