Personal Bio

Suzanne C. de Janasz, Ph.D. was the Thomas F. Gleed Endowed Chair of Business Administration at Seattle University's Albers School of Business and Economics. A former faculty member at IMD (Lausanne, Switzerland) and Fulbright scholar (Warsaw, Poland), de Janasz has taught leadership, negotiation, and organizational behavior to students and executives on five continents. Her research in mentoring, careers, work-life balance, and leadership appears in such outlets as Harvard Business Review, Academy of Management Executive, Journal of Organizational Behavior, Journal of Vocational Behavior, Group & Organization Management, British Journal of Management, International Journal of Human Resource Management, among others. In addition to her two textbooks--Interpersonal Skills in Organizations (5th edition) and Negotiation and Dispute Resolution, de Janasz writes for and is frequently quoted in online, broadcast, and print media, and blogs regularly for Huffington Post.

Earlier in her career, de Janasz was an internal consultant in the aerospace industry in Southern California. A former Chair of the Careers Division of the Academy of Management and board member for the Organizational Behavior Teaching Society, she currently mentors doctoral students and junior faculty. In addition to working with various Seattle nonprofits, Suzanne regularly volunteers for HERA in London, helping equip formerly trafficked women with the skills and confidence to become entrepreneurs.
