Personal Bio

Carlos De Mello e Souza has over 20 years experience teaching courses in financial accounting, financial analysis, corporate valuation and computer-based modeling. He has taught at INSEAD, Penn State (University Park), Susquehanna University and Seattle University. Carlos graduated as Electrical and Systems Engineer from Pontifícia Universidade Católica in Rio, has a Master's in Production Engineering from COPPE-UFRJ, and an MBA and Ph.D. from Cornell University. He has worked as a financial analyst at the Brazilian National Bank for Economic and Social Development and in the Controller's departments of both Exxon and Souza Cruz (a subsidiary of BAT, plc) in Brazil. Between 1996 and 2000 Carlos served as chief financial officer of a publicly traded independent Coca-Cola bottler in the state of Rio de Janeiro. In 2012-13 he returned as CEO, and helped sell the company to Coca-Cola FEMSA (KOF) for $498 Million. He has published in RAND Journal of Economics, Strategic Finance, Journal of Applied Finance, and Journal of Business Ethics.
