Mentoring Objectives & Scope

Objectives and Scope to be determined by the students, and what they want to get out of the mentorship experience; however suggestions include:
• Intro and understanding of Human Resources (HR) in an organization
• Transitioning to an HR career from an existing career
• Applying business education to a not for profit organization
• Managing and practicing interviewing, networking, resume building, etc.
Expectations are that the student will come prepared to share ideas, concerns, knowledge, etc. as the mentor relationship is a two way street; tell me how I can help you in your career (educational or work) but also be prepared to share what you know with others in the group.  I love what I do and can talk about it for hours.  But I don’t want to hear myself talk all the time; I want to hear what the students have passion about, what they want to do with their careers, and what they have to add to the mentoring sessions.

When and where do you hold meetings with your students?

I am open to meeting almost anytime; during work hours at my work location or on campus if better for the students. Saturdays also possible as necessary for the group.
