Seattle and King County 1% for Art Ordinances
In 1973 both the Seattle Arts Commission and the King County Arts Commission passed ordinances allocating one percent of capital-improvement-project funds for the commission, purchase, and installation of artworks. These ordinances were among the first nationally, and the programs have been emulated by cities and counties across the nation.
