
Group Theatre Company
Started in 1978, Seattle Group Theatre Company was one of the first multicultural theater companies in the country and a leader in the movement for multicultural and inclusive casting, under Founding Artistic Director Ruben Sierra. Housed at the University of Washington’s Ethnic Cultural Theatre from 1978 to 1992, The Group as it was locally known, moved to the Center House Theatre at Seattle Center in 1993 and resided there until 1998. The Group closed its doors in 1998 having presented the works of many Black, Asian, and Latino playwrights, directors, and actors.
