Learning Outcomes

Sociology students should be able to:

  • Interpret and communicate the “sociological perspective” and the diverse intersections of social categories, including race, class, gender, sexuality, age, religion, and nationality.
  • Demonstrate an ability to utilize sociological theories in applied learning and field research.
  • Identify and devise appropriate research strategies when examining social phenomena.
  • Evaluate ethical dilemmas, standards of conduct, and/or professional formation in sociological research/inquiry.
  • Utilize the sociological perspective and frames of analysis to promote social justice in a global context.
