Program Summary

Social Work is one of the most dynamic, versatile, and rewarding professions in today’s world. At Seattle University, you will gain a solid foundation in theory, practice, skills, and values to effectively collaborate, advocate, and assist people of all ages and from diverse communities.

The Social Work program, culminating in a BSW degree, offers:

  • Strong curriculum with intensive practical training
  • Arranged 9 month, 450 hour field practicum in one of the more than 30 community agencies with supervision by experienced social workers
  • Small class sizes and accessible professors
  • Cohort-based program
  • Fully accredited program by the Council of Social Work Education.

At the College of Arts and Sciences, you will work directly with social work professionals in the field and in the classroom. Our faculty are active scholars practitioners, and leaders in the field of social work and social work education. We are passionate about our work and your success.

In addition to the BSW, the Social Work program offers a minor degree (31 credits) in Social Welfare.
