Melissa Cuevas

Melissa was awarded the Fulbright Binational Business Internship in Mexico, a program consisting of enrolling in a non-degree MBA program at Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM) while working full time for a Mexican company or non-governmental organization. As a future policy maker, this opportunity will allow her to develop a better understanding of Mexico’s business climate that she will use to support mutually beneficial U.S.-Mexico relations.

Shayan Chisti

Shayan was awarded the Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship to teach for nine months in Mexico. As she hopes to go to law school and work with immigrants upon returning, she is excited for this experience to enhance her intercultural cooperation skills and familiarize herself with how to be responsive to the language barriers that immigrants may face.

Olivia Mejia-Martinez

Olivia Mejia-Martinez was recently selected by the Fulbright Commission in Colombia to serve as a Senior English Teaching Assistant for the upcoming academic school year. She has been placed at a SENA institution (they are more or less equivalent to U.S.public community colleges) in Villavicencio, Meta, Colombia. Olivia graduated from SU with an International Studies major and a double minor in Political Science and French in 2018.

Nova Robinson

Dr. Nova Robinson was voted "Teacher of the Year" by the students in the College of Arts and Sciences in 2019. The students who nominated her for the award observed she "truly cares about teaching us as well as learning from us as students” and emphasized that her teaching style "helped me become a better feminist, writer, researcher, and student.” In addition to being a dedicated teacher, Dr. Robinson is an active scholar. Her first book manuscript Truly Sisters: Arab Women and International Women’s Rights will come out in late 2020. For more information on Dr. Robinson’s course offerings see her departmental web page.
