Kennedy is excited to be a part of the Naef scholars for the second consecutive academic year. She is double majoring in Environmental Studies and English Literature, with a history minor, and loves to find interdisciplinary connections in her coursework. Kennedy was nominated for the Naef Scholarship by Student Development for her work with University Recreation as a Competitive Sports Manager and Outdoor Trip Lead.
EVST senior Kasi Gaarenstroom wins spirit of SU award! On campus, Kasi is often seen helping fellow SU students navigate SU resources at the Redhawk Resource HUB Desk. As Director of Events for SU SEAC, Kasi has coordinated events including Fall Ball, Quadstock and dozens of programs each quarter. Off campus, Kasi has volunteered for the World School and the Northwest Outdoor Science School where she created a water system curriculum for 6thgraders. Way to go Kasi!
Maddie is very grateful for the opportunity to join the Naef Scholars Cohort next year! They are double degreeing in Environmental Studies and Humanities for Teaching which they hope to use in a future career in environmental education. Next year Maddie will also be stepping into the roles of Service Coordinator for Outdoor Program and Student Campus Minister for Social Justice while also continuing their involvement doing antiracism organizing with White Students Against Racism (WSAR) and being silly with D1 Improv.
