Seattle University is one of the HSK Test Centers in North American, authorized by the Chinese National Office for Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language (NOCFL), to administer the annual Chinese Proficiency Test (or known as HSK, an acronym for Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi in Chinese).
HSK is a standardized Chinese language proficiency test for non-native Chinese speakers who would like to take the test to complete their application for admission in a Chinese university, to get a proficiency certificate for their career advancement, or simply to assess their levels of proficiency. The new HSK consists of two independent parts: a written test and an oral test. The written test comprises HSK Level 1 through HSK Level 6. The oral test is divided into three levels: HSK (Basic), HSK (Elementary-Intermediate) and HSK (Advanced), and the candidates' on-site performance will be recorded and graded afterwards. Currently the Seattle University HSK Test Center offers the HSK written test (Level 1 through Level 6, paper/pencil) twice a year in mid-May and mid-October. No oral test is offered at this time.
Residents living in the Northwest of the U.S. who are interested in Chinese language learning and looking for opportunities to have their Chinese language knowledge and skills certified by the Chinese official HSK test may enjoy the convenience of taking the test close to home.
