SSL Financial Aid

SSL Scholarships are offered based on financial need, and current or prospective academic achievement. Funds are credited each quarter directly to your student account.

All scholarships are financial resources and must be coordinated with other types of financial aid. You must notify the Financial Aid office of any scholarships you receive which do not appear on your original award letter and report whether the scholarships are renewable, so the office can automatically include it with your subsequent awards.

To be considered for a scholarship, you must fully admitted (without restrictions) to the SSL Certificate and enrolled in all required courses.
You must maintain a 3.0 grade-point average in your graduate coursework to receive and/or retain a scholarship.
It is your responsibility to pay tuition no later than the published quarterly tuition due dates established by Seattle University.

Financial Need Requirements

  • For applications based on financial or merit need, file the online version of the  FAFSA (for U.S. citizens) or the Affidavit of Financial Support (for foreign residents) and complete the online SADL Scholarship Application.
  • Personal narrative that discusses your financial circumstances relative to the desired level of assistance.
  • Students requesting a scholarship based on academic merit and/or university service do not need to provide documentation of financial status, but still need to submit a cover letter explaining why they deserve the aid.

Academic Merit Requirements

  • Cover Letter explaining Academic Merit request
  • Four-year GPA
  • Last two-year GPA
  • Admission essay
  • Letters of reference
  • Supplemental admissions material

The deadline for application is November 20th. Any applications received after that date will be considered contingent on availability of funds and acceptance into the SSL certificate. The total amount of scholarship assistance is limited and it is possible that no funds will be available at the time you apply.

Scholarship awards are announced on December 4th.
