When referring students to internship and job postings – it is our responsibility to follow Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) laws by ensuring our practices are not having a disparate impact. This means we do not exclude from consideration students based on anything other than the specific qualifications for that particular job or internship. Assist students by serving as a reference and referral, but not as an applicant screener for employers. While it may seem like a good idea to send the best and brightest to a potential internship or employer, it opens us up to the legal liability that comes with it.
