Biography

Benjamin Howe began his college career at Grinnell College in Iowa, before transferring to the Catholic University of Louvain in Belgium, where he earned his BA, MA, and PhD in philosophy. As a master’s student at Louvain, his research focused on medieval political thought, while his doctorate focused on contemporary environmental ethics.

At Matteo Ricci Institute, Dr. Howe continues to explore his broad interests, teaching classes on medieval cultural history, the history of philosophy, and contemporary ethics. He’s also Seattle University’s Ethics Bowl coach. Some of his recent work on immigration rights and climate change has appeared in the journal Environmental Ethics.
