Purpose:

In recognition of their invaluable service and commitment to positive impact in our communities, Seattle University offers the following benefits for AmeriCorps alums. 

AmeriCorps Alumni Scholarship - Award Amount and Timeline:

Applicants to the Master of Nonprofit Leadership are eligible to apply for the AmeriCorps Alumni Scholarship. Two students will be selected to receive the scholarship. The scholarship award is $3,000 and will be distributed in equal quarterly installments, over the first two years of the program (Fall 2020-Spring 2022). The scholarship award is applied toward tuition and eligible applicants must have successfully completed (or will have completed) an AmeriCorps term of serve by the time of enrollment in the MNPL program for Fall 2020. 

Closing Date

Scholarship awards are prioritized for those who meet the March 15, 2020, priority application deadline. Scholarship applications received after March 15 will be reviewed and awarded on a case-by-case basis depending on remaining funds.

How to Apply:

  • Complete the online Nonprofit Leadership Scholarship Application, including an essay response (500 words max) to the following:
  • Certification of Service letter (attached to Nonprofit Leadership Scholarship Application).
  • If currently serving, a letter from your supervisor (attached to Nonprofit Leadership Scholarship Application).

Notice of Scholarship Award:

AmeriCorps Alumni Scholarship award decisions will be made after admissions decisions. For applications submitted by March 15, 2020, we will notify applicants of scholarship decisions by May 1. For applications submitted after March 15, we will notify applicants of scholarship decisions made on a case-by-case basis depending on remaining funds.

AmeriCorps Alumni Fee Waiver:

In addition, AmeriCorps alums who complete an application for the Master of Nonprofit Leadership program may request an application fee waiver. In the "Fee Payment" section of their online application, applicants should indicate they are an AmeriCorps alum in order to receive the fee waiver.
