Practicum

During the first-year foundation field practicum, students are matched and placed at approved social service agencies under the supervision of trained MSW Practicum Instructors. In addition, they participate in an integrative seminar with members of their cohort. The MSW program offers placements in more than 40 community sites. All students confer with the Field Director prior to placement.

Interested In Hosting a Social Work Student?

Students in Seattle University's social work program have come to us exceptionally well prepared. This is certainly due to the remarkable preparation they receive from the field placement program and the school's strong social justice curriculum. Working with clients involved in the criminal justice system requires special attention to issues of oppression, discrimination and systemic racism. Students are well grounded in these theories and this is reflected in their excellent field work.
